Printability
Harnessing talc’s natural properties to bring papermakers a range of benefits
Talc is water repellant, chemically inert and organophilic. It is the softest mineral on the planet. These natural properties enhance the printability of the finished paper.
- In matt and silk offset printing paper grades and paperboard, Imerys talcs improve ink scuff resistance and ink gloss, decrease print mottling and improve print opacity.
- In rotogravure printing, Imerys coating talcs optimize ink transfer and reduce missing dots, resulting in improved image quality in the halftone area.
- Used as a functional filler, talc’s bluish tone improves whiteness. The right level of gloss, matt or silk finish can be achieved by simply fine-tuning talc particle size.
