Wood plastic composites
Imerys talcs are cost-effective processing aids which improve the structural integrity of WPCs
Wood plastic composites are increasingly being used as a sustainable substitute for lumber in products such as outdoor decking, railings, cladding, garden furniture, window and door frames. They are generally produced with polyethylene or polypropylene resins and contain up to 70% wood.
Lamellar Imerys talcs make cost-effective processing aids in PP and PE-based WPC, widening the processing window, reducing moisture-related problems and improving the structural integrity of the final product.
Imerys talc:
- lowers compound viscosity, increasing extrusion speed while maintaining good surface appearance
- increases modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity and HDT
- reduces water absorption and warpage
- improves dimensional stability, in terms of shrinkage, warpage and isotropy
- reduces creep and elastic recovery performance
- improves rigidity after water soak and reduces swell in water
- is a natural, environmentally friendly solution
We particularly recommend our Luzenac 2 and Luzenac ST30 products for WPCs.
